The main objective of the international activities is the generation of strategic and tactical solutions to enhance the university’s international prestige on the basis of the unity of educational, scientific and innovative activities in all divisions, the promotion of the university on the international market of educational services, scientific research and development.
Ufa State PetroleumTechnological University supports steady connections with many scientific and educational centers throughout the world. Being a member of the International Association of Universities, it has cooperation agreements with the universities, companies and enterprises of Europe, Asia and CIS countries. USPTU is making strenuous efforts to create a modern training system for foreign citizens and strengthen its position on the international market of educational services.
USPTU has been training international students for more than 30 years already. Since that time, more than 1,900 foreign citizens have becomeUSPTU graduates and have been suceesfuly employed in various areas of the oil and gas industry.
Currently, the university has 1,320 international students from 51 countries. The share of international students at USPTU is 7.4%. This makes USPTU ranking among thetop 30 universities of Russia.
The university’s international activity is developing in different directions: one of the leading areas is the provision of educational services to international students including the Russian pre-university program, Bachelor’s, Master’s, postgraduate and doctoral programs.
Another dynamically developing direction is academic mobility of students and teachers. Within student academic mobility programs, bilateral cooperation with international partner universities is being actively conducted, including semester-long training, included education, 2 + 3 program - based training, short-term internships and summer school programs (China, Kazakhstan, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Syria, Iraq).
International cooperation in the field of double degree programs is also successfully developing, as a result of which our students are awarded both USPTU and partner university degrees (Finland, Austria).
Academic mobility of the teaching staff is being implemented on the basis of the “Invited Professors” program when foreign professors are invited to USPTU to give lectures to its students. USPTU teachers also travel to international partner universities for lecturing there.
Another very important direction of USPTU international activities is the employment of international specialists at the university: the employment of foreign citizens - USPTU graduates within the program of highly qualified personnel training (postgraduate training). At present, the university has 7 such staff members.
International cooperation in the field of science and technology is developing in two major directions - rendering of research and engineering services on request of international oil and gas companies (Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Iran) and joint research projects with international partner universities (Austria, China, Kazakhstan, Belarus) within the international grant programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Federal Target Program “Research and Development”) and the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR).
